Twilight Transforms to Comic Books

Stephanie Meyer captured the interest of reader’s when she authored the novel and series Twilight which quickly made its way to the New York Times Best Sellers’ list. The novel tells the tale of vampires and romance. The main character, Isabella Swan or Bella, falls in love with a vampire, Edward Cullen, when she moves to a new state from her hometown in Arizona. Stephanie Meyer is an award winning American author who continued writing the Twilight series with New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. She is a fan of writing for young adults in the fantasy, romance, and science fiction genres.

The success and many award recognitions made the novel a great inspiration for movie makers. The novel was adapted to film in 2008 and was directed by Catherine Hardwicke. She has also worked on award winning films such as Thirteen, Vanilla Sky, and The Nativity Story. The movie starred actors Kristin Stewart and Robert Patterson. Just like the novel, the movie also received numerous awards and worldwide recognition. It won almost every award it was nominated for at the MTV movie awards, and won: best movie, best male performance, best female performance, best fight, and best kiss. If you haven’t seen the movie, you can tell just from the awards won how great the film adaptation of the novel is.

The Twilight series can now add to its resume, in addition to award winning novel and movie that it is being written as comic books. More specifically, it will fall under the graphic novel category which is a type of comic book. Entertainment Weekly reported that Young Kim will be the artist for the graphic novel, and that Yen Press will be publishing the series. The characters in the graphic novel are being drawn to look more like anime characters rather than being depicted how Kristin Stewart and Robert Patterson looked in the movie. According to an article on EW.com, Stephanie Meyer will be playing a large role in the production of the comic book, and will oversee all the panels being drawn. There hasn’t been a scheduled release date for the graphic novel, but it is definitely in the works.

As you can see, Twilight has transformed from print to movie and now back into print as a graphic novel. People are wondering if the fans will be receptive the graphic novel because of the anime style which it’s being created in. The novel and the film adaptation were very successful, so comic book readers will have to wait and see if its success will continue.

Movie Review: Twilight (2008)

You Better Hold On Tight, Spidermonkey

Arguably the best line in the movie, “You better hold on tight, spidermonkey,” says Edward as he climbs up the bark of a redwood with Bella on his back. And as they continue on through the forest, jumping, flying, arriving at high mast to overlook a scene of enormous, mountainous beauty, you would never guess that it was all CGI. These days, however, I’m beginning to accept that most of it is. See: Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, although Harry Potty is worse in that it’s overly colorful and horribly childish. It’s actually quite disturbing to find so many comparisons of Twilight to Potter, most presumably due to the furor engulfing followers of both. Is it too much to recognize the vast difference between the two? If I were part of the production of Twilight, I’d be pretty annoyed at America (although I can think of a kajillion other reasons to be annoyed at America, but that’s beside the point).

Fans of the book would be horrified at the adaptation on the screen. What is a clumsy, humorous protagonist character in the book is portrayed as sullen and lost, only to be found by her true vampire love (awe), which was probably what Melissa Rosenberg (screenwriter) wanted and Stephanie Meyer (novelist) hates. If you hadn’t read the book (and I hadn’t, sorry) then you might actually enjoy it far more (like i did).

The problems in the movie have nothing to do with acting or portrayal; nobody overdoes it, nobody falls short. Neither does any cinematography exhibit a lack of skill. The downfalls are found in the teeny-bopper, sexy soundtrack and the tag-line dialogue in the villains. This is a movie for 13 year old girls. And its overtones of sexuality are a little.. vague. My point being that if you’re going to go that route, why not go all the way and have some lesbian kissing? That way you’d reel in not just the girls but the boys too!

Alas, I’m glad you didn’t, because while the ridiculousness of the plot — girl is lonely, girl meets boy, boy is vampire, vampires are dangerous, girl learns the hard way.. and nothing has a logical explanation to it… maybe that’s what makes it good, that it’s a fantasy.

One of the most important concepts some filmmakers have trouble understanding is the color scheme of the storyboard. Twilight does not make this mistake. While it’s vivid, dreamy, and dark it’s also very colorful without losing faith in itself, a forest hue bundle that never fades. Another great example of this is Memento and, in fact, there’s some talk of it in the DVD extras. Ultimately, color-scheming is a marketing ploy and you can see the same scheme on the website for New Moon, although New Moon has a more sepia tone drawn in. Yet another example is The Illusionist. Come to think of it, the color scheme is exactly the same in the Illusionist.

Anyhoo, this is not an A1 movie. Neither is it bottom-of-the-barrel. The toughest part on the filmmakers must have been squeezing a 544 page book into a two hour movie, which is sort of long for teenagers. However, it reels in your inner teenage girl and doesn’t tire, even through the credits while Radiohead plays (scarily) and then moves to one of the worst Linkin Park songs I think I’ve ever heard.

The Twilight Collection By Stephenie Meyer

The recent sensation that has gripped book readers is a series of novels by the writer Stephenie Meyer. She is an American that has been compared to the British writer JK Rowling due to the phenomenal success of her books. Her writing has been so well received that these have now been made into movies which have also done extremely well and has introduced people to the world of vampires and other mystical creatures.

The Twilight book collection comprises of four separate novels that follow the lives of two specific characters. Each book gets larger and longer to read than the previous one and each one has a full on action sequence that will keep you reading until the very last page so that you can find out the outcome without delay.

The names of the books in the Twilight Saga are as follows:

Twilight
New Moon
Eclipse
Breaking Dawn

If you have never thought of reading a fantasy novel before, these books would be a great introduction to the whole genre. The basic underlying story in each book is about the relationship between a mortal young girl and an immortal young boy. The first book starts the story with these two individuals meeting at high school. We get to learn about their families and their backgrounds.

The names of the main characters of these books are Isabella Swan and Edward Cullen. In each book, we find out more and more about their lives and the trials and tribulations that they face due to their unconventional relationship and all the daily challenges that they have to deal with due to the fact that she is a human and he is a vampire.

These books are available to buy individually but you can now purchase a lovely Twilight box set. This is a presentation package that includes all the books and additional artwork that have been produced in postcard size. This would make a great gift idea of any special occasion.

In the second installment of Stephenie Meyer’s phenomenally successful TWILIGHT series, the romance between mortal and vampire soars to a new level as BELLA SWAN (Kristen Stewart) delves deeper into the mysteries of the supernatural world she yearns to become part of—only to find herself in greater peril than ever before.

Following Bella’s ill-fated 18th birthday party, EDWARD CULLEN (Robert Pattinson) and his family abandon the town of Forks, Washington, in an effort to protect her from the dangers inherent in their world. As the heartbroken Bella sleepwalks through her senior year of high school, numb and alone, she discovers Edward’s image comes to her whenever she puts herself in jeopardy. Her desire to be with him at any cost leads her to take greater and greater risks.

With the help of her childhood friend JACOB BLACK (Taylor Lautner), Bella refurbishes an old motorbike to carry her on her adventures. Bella’s frozen heart is gradually thawed by her budding relationship with Jacob, a member of the mysterious Quileute tribe, who has a supernatural secret of his own.

When a chance encounter brings Bella face to face with a former nemesis, only the intervention of a pack of supernaturally large wolves saves her from a grisly fate, and the encounter makes it frighteningly clear that Bella is still in grave danger. In a race against the clock, Bella learns the secret of the Quileutes and Edward’s true motivation for leaving her. She also faces the prospect of a potentially deadly reunion with her beloved that is a far cry from the one she hoped for. With more of the passion, action and suspense that made TWILIGHT a worldwide phenomenon, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON is a spellbinding follow-up to the box office hit.

Twilight Eclipse Clothing and Accessories

The Twilight shirts may be coming out soon and everyone is curious as to what the new designs are going to look like. Of course, there are going to be more Bella, Edward, and Jacob clothes.

There can be more wolf pack, Cullen clan, and Volturi shirts as well. However, for the Twilight production there must] be new characters joining in the mix, therefore there could be new Eclipse clothing to reflect these extra cast members. For example, there will be the addition of Seth who is the youngest of the wolf pack. In addition, we must be introduced to Leah, the only female member of the wolf pack. These two influential characters alone warrant new Twilight clothes and designs.

Then there are also events that [can take place in this production that could be placed on Twilight shirts as well. The blossoming of the dreaded love triangle especially, that would be a bonus for everyone on Team Switzerland who simply must pick between the romantic Edward and the hopelessly sweet Jacob. One design that can be awesome is a white t shirt with the snowstorm on the front and then the moment between Bella and Jacob. That is something that the Eclipse fans must want to see, but maybe not so much the Team Edward fans.  Eclipse shirts are going to be hot pieces after the movie is released and it must be beneficial to the company making them to incorporate the new characters and in the end, more clothes would be sold.
