Twilight New Moon Take Vampire Saga To New Heights

The Twilight Saga first wowed audiences in book format, as teenagers were enthralled by the dark romance in Stephanie Meyer’s vampire novels. However, as the fang-fever spread and the popularity of the stories became apparent, the decision was made – much to the delight of the books’ many fans – that they would also be made into motion pictures. The first Twilight film hit the screens in 2008 and its fabulous reception ensured that a sequel would follow. Luckily, Meyer has four novels in the series, so film producers didn’t have to look far for a way to replicate the success of the first film.

The franchise has proved very popular indeed, the midnight opening of the film set records as the biggest in Canadian and American history and knocked other popular teen film Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince off the top spot.

New Moon, as the second film in the saga, sets up a cliff-hanger for the next, while providing many thrills and spills of its own. The drama largely centres on the relationship between Bella and Edward, but supernatural elements and dark forces ensure it’s far from the average teenage romance. The next film in the series – The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – will arrive in the summer of 2010 while the Twilight New Moon DVD is set to hit the shelves this spring to slake the thirst of vampire-hungry fans the world over.

Here are the reasons I chose these songs: Bella (Everytime We Touch) – I used this song for Bella because it kinda relates somewhat to how she feels everytime her and Edward touch. Edward (Seventeen Forever) – I used this song for Edward becasue it was kinda funny to me since he is physically 17 forever, it may be stupid to others but just deal with it. Alice (Sister Psychic) – I chose this song for Alice because she is a sister psychic to Edward, Emmett, Rosalie, and now Bella. Rosalie (Girlfriend) – I was originally going to use Don’t Cha by the Pussycat Dolls, but my computer wouldn’t allow me to so I just had to go with this. I chose this song because Rosalie feels like she is better than everyone else just because she is beautiful, and this song is kinda like saying “I know you love me and want to be my boyfriend”… sorta. Esme (1000 Miles) – Esme was really hard to find a song for and I used this song because Esme will do anything to be with her family and make them happy. Carlisle (How To Save A Life) – This one is pretty obvious but I’ll say it anyway. I used this song because Carlisle is a doctor and even though he hated what he had become(vampire), he was determined to save many peoples lives and to do that, he had to turn Edward and Esme into vampires or they would die. Jasper (Apologize) – I was going to do Blood by My Chemical Romance, but that didn’t plan out so I chose this song. I hink this song more relates to Jasper in …

Let’s face it, New Moon merchandise is everywhere at the moment. I wasn’t a fan, but I was highly impressed that it go so many kids and teenagers to open a book once in a while, as a great many of those kids would then go on to discover other books and authors that they would love and cherish. As the main Twilight audience begins to grow older, they are moving on to the books of Charlaine Harris, for example. In turn they might well discover the vampire novels of Anne Rice as they go through their teens, and as they leave their teens there are yet more authors to discover that they will love. The Paris Immortal series by S. Roit, the Werecat novels of Rachel Vincent, and any number of other different urban fantasy writers.

It’s somewhat the same with the movies, as once the well has run dry for the Twilight franchise, fans will hopefully move on to a greater appreciation of things like The Lost Boys or The Hunger. It’s already being seen in the TV world in the growing audience for the True Blood series, based on the aforementioned novels by Charlaine Harris.

The New Moon merchandise that is available has been designed to capture that fluctuating market very well, and the results are quite impressive. There are things that fans of all ages can enjoy, like the calendars or posters, and then there are various other great collectibles for younger fans, right up to the serious collector end of the spectrum. It’s a most fascinating thing to watch unfold, and as long as kids and teenagers are being introduced to books, then that’s great.
