The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer
Posted: May 21, 2010 |
]]>
“The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” is a story described from the viewpoint of Bree Tanner, a character in Eclipse. The book will be released on June 5 and the first print order is that of 1.5 million copies. One dollar from each book sold will go to the American Red Cross International Response Fund which will then be routed to the relief efforts going into the Haiti and Chile.
It Started As A Fun Story
Stephenie Meyer herself is surprised from the publication of the story in the book form. She began to work on the idea in 2005, at the time when she was editing Eclipse. It was only intended to be a short story which would have been uploaded on her website. Later she thought it fit to add the story to the “The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide”, though the story kept growing longer and became 192 pages long.
Read It Online
The fans would be given exclusive access to the story on an exclusive website, www.breetanner.com, where they would be allowed to read the story online from June 7 to July 5, 2010. “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” has always been for the fans only, says Stephenie Meyer, as she expresses her gratitude for the fans for being so supportive of everything related to Twilight.
Story Of A Newborn Vampire
The book by Stephenie Meyer, “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” is a captivating story of a newborn vampire who lives in the darker side of the world. It will also be available as an e-book on June 5, 2010. Stephenie Meyer has already become a publishing sensation. She herself admits she had been working on the story off and on just for fun. Later as the story grew, the book “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” started to explain lots of things which Bella never knew of. The book was also used during the process of making Eclipse film. The screenwriter, director and cast of the film also read the story to get to know the characters better.
A Gift For The Fans
After the manuscript of the book was completed, she heard the news that the book had become almost 200 pages long after typesetting. The publishers came up with the idea of publishing the Bree story separately so that people would know more of Bree before they watched the movie. When Stephenie Meyer suggested the idea of gifting the story of Bree to the fans since they had already bought tons of books on the series, the publishers agreed, which gave birth to the idea of presenting the book online for a month.

Book Review: The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer
The title itself suggests the novella is related to Eclipse in some way. This is the story Bree Tanner, the newborn vampire who was killed in the war between the armies of Cullens and Victoria. The book follows the six days in the life of the newborn vampire Bree’s life.

Book Review of South of the Border, West of the Sun
Murakami´s novel lacks the fantastical elements that normally pervade his work. The novel explores seemingly more mundane topics such as a mid-life crisis and a love-triangle, and is the weaker for it. Although Murakami places a series of twists upon convention, and maintains the mystery evident in many of his books, the story can still be seen as stale.

A well written funny mystery ; Film lover Barbara Marr is a typical suburban mom living the typical suburban life in her sleepy little town of Rustic Woods, Virginia. Typical, that is until she sets out to find the missing link between a bizarre monkey sighting in her yard and the bone chilling middle-of-the-night fright fest at the strangely vacant house next door.

The Banks May Reduce Costs Through The Use Of Mobile Money
The Indian Economy is growing and the possible role of mobile money in the same may not be overstated. The author of The March of Mobile Money, Sam Pitroda, is an advisor to the PM on infrastructure and innovation. The main reason why he feels so passionately about his idea of digital wallet – the banks haven’t been able to reach the bottom of the pyramid yet. He firmly believes his idea will help reach the banks to these inaccessible markets.

Don’t Read Popular Books? You Can’t Avoid Jonathan Franzen
It doesn’t matter what kind of literature you are currently into, you will have to read The Corrections at the end of the day. May be you will do it out of your own choice, or because your friends just couldn’t stop raving about the characters in the book. Even those who are truly of the stubborn kind (those who don’t want to get into the popular literature because they have better things to do) will have to read it when the movie version is released. So what is their excuse?

Can You Be A Character In The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen?
While reading The Corrections, many readers felt glad they were not one of the characters, but could easily visualize themselves making the same mistakes they were making. In the conventional sense, The Corrections didn’t have a plot, but it did explain how the characters got where they were. Take Gary for example, who was sure in his heart he didn’t want to have a marriage like his father who dominated (or bullied) his wife. As a result, his wife started dominating the marriage.

This is the Way Jonathan Franzen Writes
Although Jonathan Franzen doesn’t know how the cruise chapters work, he is aware how the first two chapters and then fifth and sixth work. He just takes a single situation and then tightens the screws for all the characters (just like short novels). He is slightly apologetic about it, but Jonathan Franzen does create situations somewhat mechanically (for you it means there is a method behind the madness). He wants to figure out a powerful dramatic situation beforehand when he starts writing.

This is my new twilight music video, i made this video because i can’t wait for new moon to be released. If you haven’t seen the movie or don’t know what it is but like the music from lifehouse and leona lewis (i will be) at the end. Its basically a vampire romance…and possibly based on the best books i have read for some time. Its half the vampire couple at the moment anyway (don’t mean to add spoilers, but whoever loves the film TWILIGHT most have read the books) anyway i hope you like it please feel free to rate and comment or even just to ask questions about the saga, im like the wikipedia on all things twilight 😛 enjoy and thanks for watching in advance…even if you just clicked on this by chance, stay and watch it…its only 4 minutes of your life 🙂

Stephenie Meyer – A Woman Who Created Vampires in Forks

They know very well who of them is human and who of them is vampire. However, when people are asked about Stephenie Meyer, they might just answer that she is the author of The Twilight Saga. They might not know a lot about her career and her achievements in writings. For that reason, this article gives you a brief biography of Stephenie Meyer, a woman who created vampires in Forks.
Stephenie Meyer was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1973 but she was settled in Phoenix in her age of four with her family. She attended Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. Then, she continued her study to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and received her B.A in English in 1997. She had never written a story before she wrote Twilight and even started to consider taking law school. However, the birth of Gabe, her oldest son changed her mind because she just wanted to be her mother.
Before she decided to be an author, she was working as a receptionist in a property company. However, her life then totally changed on 2003. She decided to write something, something that she had not done in a long time and that surprisingly bothered her. She began to think about the plot of the first book of The Twilight Saga Series.
It is quite interesting that she invented the idea of the plot during the day through swim lessons and potty training. Then, she wrote it into words and sentences in the late of the night when her house is pretty quiet, and amazingly she finished the first book, Twilight, in three months only. This book then reached its success in 2005.
Started from this year, she delivered the second book, New Moon, in September 2006 and the third book, Eclipse in 2007. In May 2008, she delivered her other novel, The Host, in the market and still in the list of bestseller more than a year after its debut. Then, the final book of the Twilight Saga was released at 12:01 midnight on August 2, 2008.
The Twilight Saga became more and more famous when Twilight the movie was released on November 21, 2008. It was directed by Catherine Hardwicke and starring Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan. Then, New Moon was released on November 16, 2009 in USA, and Eclipse also will be released on June 30, 2010.
Although she could be considered as a new American author, Meyer has achieved a lot of awards. They are A Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year, An Amazon.com Best Book of the Decade…So Far, A Teen People Hot List pick, as well as An American Library Association Top Ten Best Book for Young Adults and Top Ten Books for Reluctant Readers.
Besides the Twilight Saga and The Host, there are still some works that you can find soon in the bookstores. They are Midnight Sun, The Soul, and The Seeker.
Frederic C Padilla wants to be a good writer so he tries to write articles in many different topics. You can visit his latest website to find out enough information about fitness equipment such as second wind exercise equipment that will be perfect product to maintain your health.

Stephenie Meyer: How To Write {Boring|Clumsy) Sentence Openers

Here’s an excerpt from young writing phenomenon and bestseller Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight:
Jess drove faster than the chief, so we made it to Port Angeles by four. It had been a while since I’ve had a girls’ night out, and the estrogen rush was invigorating. We listened to whiny songs while Jessica jabbered on about the boys we hung out with. Jessica’s dinner with Mike had gone very well, and she was hoping that by Saturday night they would have progressed to the first-kiss stage. I smiled to myself, pleased. Angela was passively happy to be going to the dance, but not really interested in Eric. Jess tried to get her to confess who her type was, but I interrupted with a question about dresses after a bit, to spare her. Angela threw a grateful glance my way.[chapter 8, Twilight]
What is wrong with the above? It is quite inartistic. And as clumsy as running a marathon with new shoes. Truman Capote would call the above paragraph, “Typing,” not writing. The paragraph contains not one single balanced sentence, let alone a well balanced sentence. And, yes. All sentences are of the amateurish or childish pattern S-V-O (subject, verb, object–John hit the ball; john hit the ball; john hit the ball; etc).
Master writer Stephen King, in a recent interview said: “Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people… The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good.”
At first impression Mr. King’s comments may sound as insensitive and perhaps as evidence of an old senior citizen writer being jealous of a young and popular one. At least this was the reaction of many of Stephenie Meyer’s fans: “King is jealous: no one buys his books anymore.” “Name one of King’s books that is popular today: none!” “He can’t see a young writer succeed.”
So I purchased several of Jo Rowling’s books of the Harry Potter series, and I was delightfully surprised. Rowling is a master writer; a master of grammar, syntax, and rhetoric. If you love the English language, you will find well balanced sentence, and cadence and rhythm, and echoes that could be the envy of any literary writer. Because she writes for children, her production isn’t considered literary by many critics, but eventually she will be, just a Mark Twain, C. S Lewis, Kipling, and Dickens.
Mr. King might just be right in his criticism of Stephenie Meyer, not because he is jealous of her success, but because–as we can see in the above excerpt–Meyer’s writing isn’t writing at all, but typing; maybe she’ll mature as a writer and learn the trade. Hopefully someone close to her might give her some sound advice that good writing comes with sentence variation.
Stephenie Meyer reminds me of another young writer who wrote one passable novel, Secret History, and then fell out of grace and was dropped by publishers like a hot brick. Same problem as Meyer: writing subject-verb-complement ad nauseum.
Though Stephen King has been writing for longer than 40 years, his prose hasn’t improved. And his themes are still horrific. But despite the fact that many scholars and critics view Mr. King as an entertainer and not a literary figure, I can say that he can put together some fine sentences. Will he ever be hailed as a master writer in the same league as Faulkner or Hemingway? I don’t think so.
And why not? Some may ask: simply because he himself at one point in his life decided to become an entertainer rather than a literary writer.

Studying the style of authors, reading 10 hours a days, imitating your favorite writers, or memorizing grammar rules and syntax patterns will not help you a great deal. A little yes-but not a lot. We all benefit from studying, but the crux of the matter is to write every day no matter what. If you are a writer you must not lose your way.

Book Review: The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer
Posted: Jul 29, 2010 |
]]>
The title itself suggests the novella is related to Eclipse in some way. This is the story Bree Tanner, the newborn vampire who was killed in the war between the armies of Cullens and Victoria. The book follows the six days in the life of the newborn vampire Bree’s life.
Welcome Change Of Perspective
Even if you didn’t expect anything from the book, you would be pleasantly surprised by the enjoyment this off-chute story provides to the readers. The change in perspective is especially likeable, especially after you have read Eclipse. It’s a great feeling to be able to see in the mind of a vampire and what sort of blood lust they feel right after they are born. The description of killing and tasting human blood is also very interestingly told.
Well Developed Characters
Despite being a novella, the character of Bree Tanner is extremely well developed though you may end up feeling the ending of Eclipse could have been a bit different. People might wish to see Bree Tanner continue to live knowing well the rules and they might also like to see her as a part of the Cullen family. The other characters people enjoyed reading about include Diego, Fred, and Riley. There were tons of information covered in The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner and the insights provided into the minds of the vampires were priceless (for Twilight fans).
The Readers Are Enamored
The author doesn’t expect everyone to be besotted by the book, she is only targeting the teen girls and they are enamored. Other people who didn’t enjoy the book, still felt compelled to read them because they did not want to be left out (of current trends). After all, it was the best selling paranormal series of our times. The structure of the novel is different, and there is just a large chunk of text … no chapters, no breaks at all.
The Story Has a Steady Pace
The development and pacing of the story is steady throughout, and lack of structure to the book doesn’t hurt it at all. There is no drama or dramatic tension, but the development of the story fills all such apparent gaps. It is a readable book, and the interest in the events of the book would increase gradually. The fans would just adore the story and though the non-fans may find it a bit over the top. Bree worries about Diego just like Bella, and then comes slightly hasty vampire battle.
