Edward Cullen and the rest of the vampires in the Cullen Family along with Bella Swan have created quite a “Twilight Storm” across the country…in fact in many countries around the world. Twilight has even created a new party theme of the same name. Twilight party ideas are hot! Whether it’s for a birthday, Valentine’s Day, or Halloween…a Twilight party is the way to go.
The Stephanie Meyer’s books have created quite a stir around Forks, Washington and the rest of the world. With over 40 million books sold in 40 countries Twilight is the Tween/Teen hit of the year. The second book in the Twilight Saga…New Moon…is going to be filmed this year and is due for a Nov. 2009 release date. This should keep the momentum moving right along at a brisk pace.
The cast of the New Moon Movie is still not decided and all us Twihards wait with breathless anticipation to see who else will join Dakota Fanning, who was cast as the Volturi Vampire, Jane. Noor Seear has been cast as Heidi and Caius will be played by Jamie Campbell-Bower. Several of the Werewolves have been cast too. The Quileute Wolf Pack will be played in part by Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Tyson Houseman.
With the release of the Twilight DVD a couple months ago, our Twi-obssession was sated for awhile…but once again,we need our Twilight fix, and right now, there’s not much to keep us in good supply other than the casting leaks from New Moon.
Look for a rush of Twilight movie parties in the near future, along with Trivia games and then come October look again for the Twilight Halloween Party Ideas to rear their little heads again. You can see immediately why this movie was an international hit, it is a romantic story many teenagers will identify with even though it has some horror themes as the inevitable subject deals with vampires, but it is in fact a love story.
It stars Kristen Stewart (unrecognisable from The Cake Eaters), as Bella Swan anxious to get away from her erratic hovering mother and new boyfriend as they go on tour, while she moves to a new school as she stays with her father the local sheriff Charlie Swan played by Billy Burke(Untraceable, 24, Party of Five).
We immediately get the distant relationship Bella has with her father, as Bella voice-overs “The great thing about Charlie is he doesn’t hover” as he shows her room. In her new school she is introduced to as the new plaything, since she is joining half way through term, and quickly makes friends with amongst others the lovely Jessica Stanley played by Anna Kendrick(her smile is enough to brighten up any room). As Bella settles in her new surroundings she gets reacquainted with some friends she knew when she was younger and stayed with her father, one being the charming Billy Black played by Gil Birmingham(Body and Soul), there is a particular funny scene where Bella’s father buys an old vehicle from him for her, at first Bella looks at it as a worthless piece of junk, but then realises the potential it could have, and can’t wait to test drive it, while Billy Black mentions to Charlie “I’m down with the kids”.

A few days into her new school she sees the Cullen’s, and takes a particular fancy to Edward Cullen played wonderfully by Robert Pattison (Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix). There is a particular charming scene when they first meet in a class lab, many angst ridden teenager will identify with, having to get along even though they maybe a little bit embarrassed, that particular scene of their first encounter is beautifully shot, and is probably a major reason why many teenagers identify with it.
She finds out there are some rumours going on about the Cullen’s, and her curiosity gets the better of her, leading to some unexpected consequences.
It is a charming movie right down to the infectious opening soundtrack, and I can’t wait for the sequel.

Twilight is written by Stephenie Meyer and to be honest it is a little bit Nora Robertsy… Easy romantic reading, that doesn’t really demand all that much from a reader. It’s also that Twilight is a love story. And like all the great lovestories, this young couple, Edward and Bella face obstacles… One very major obstacle is that Edward is…drumroll please…a vampire.
Forbidden love has always been the best kind of love and that rings true to the succes of Twilight also. But is it really so that women nowdays don’t get that buzz from their own lives anymore, and they have to get it from books and movies. Maybe this T-shirt I saw on the street the other day tells it like it is…”Because of Edward, human boys have lost their charm….”
Sad but true, it seems.
There has also been a countermovement against these Twimoms. Facebook groups like “I lost my Wife to Twlight” have been opened and many men find it a real problem that their wifes are, with lack of a better word, addicted to Twilight.
But I think we shouldn’t go so hard at these Twimoms, let’s just be happy that they’ve found something to rave about. And let us men just remember this when the football/basketball/hockey season starts…When the wife starts nagging, just say to her: “Why don’t just read that Twilight book once more?”
