Twilight Hunt: A Seek-and-find Book (Seek-And-Find Books)

A twilight background creates a magical microcosm where strange creatures cleverly camouflage themselves to become invisible to predators. The Screetch Owl squints its eyes to track its prey and, together with the reader, seeks out the amazing beings hidden among the bark and leaves. Oliver appends a lot of useful information by including a key indicating where animals are hidden on each page.

Twilight Hunt: A Seek-and-Find Book is a children’s picturebook following a screech owl’s hunt amid a nighttime forest to feed her chicks. What distinguishes this simple tale is its illustrations in linocent print medium, combined with paint, pencil, and collage. In twilight hunt, the insects and the animals the screech owl searches for use natural camouflage to blend into their surroundings – but when a great horned owl begins its hunt, the screech owl has to depend on camouflage too! The last few pages of Twilight Hunt offer an “answer key” as to which creatures are hidden where in the different illustrations, and some fascinating facts about camouflage and disguise in the natural world. Highly recommended.

I bought this book for my 3 year old grandson. He liked hunting for the different insects. We were able to talk about the different ones as he hunted for them. Excellent book for developing visual discrimination and oral language.
