It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to decode the compelling success of Stephanie Meyer’s vampire series, Twilight. If 17 million printed copies and a movie adaptation are any indication of its influence in young adult literature, then Twilight is redefining this genre through giving it an edge like no other.
Twilight may well owe its success to the intriguing and gothic romance between a normal teenager, Bella Swan, and an intoxicatingly charismatic vampire, Edward Cullen. Just like Romeo and Juliet, the tie binding Cullen and Swan are even more strengthened by the obstacles they had to face due to the opposing existence they tread—Swan as a mortal, and Cullen as a vampire, one of the scary creatures of the night known to have roamed the world of the living for centuries.
Vampires and other scary creatures of the night have been a famous character since the early 1800s. These dark creatures possess an eerie combination of beauty and lethal danger. Both repulsive and attractive, vampires are a borderline between monstrosity and humanity. Capitalizing on these scary creatures’ grim and fascinating characteristics, Stephanie Meyer has created a world like no other—A world where love between a mere mortal and an enticingly dangerous scary creature of the night is within the bounds of possibility and reality.
Instead of the stereotypical vampires replicated over and over throughout the years, the book has introduced us to a fairly different set of vampires. Rather than being portrayed as pure evil, we are welcomed into the world of conscience-ridden vampires that could choose to feast on human blood or jeopardize their existence by denying their nature.
Edward Cullen
Edward Cullen (Edward Anthony Cullen) was born in June 20, 1901. He was saved by Dr. Carlisle Cullen to grant Elizabeth’s (Edward’s mother) dying wish. However, the only way to do so is to transform him into a vampire—a scary creature of the night that doesn’t eat, sleep, breathe or age. Frozen in his 17-year old body, Edward has survived the century by feasting on animal blood.
He instantly fell in love with Bella as soon as she arrives in Forks. Fighting the urge to kill her because of his nature and wanting to love her, he faces a bout with himself almost throughout the story.
Jacob Black
He is werewolf who is later revealed to be a shape-shifter as he doesn’t transform on a full moon. Being Bella’s best friend, he’s determined to protect and stand by her no matter what.
Carlisle Cullen
Having brought compassion from his human life, Carlisle Cullen spent most of his early years as a vampire in perfecting his resistance to human bloodlust and becoming a doctor. In the book, we are told of Carlisle’s love affair with Esme and how he transformed her into a vampire to save her life. He also transformed Rosalie Hale and Emmett into vampires.
Esme Cullen
She is the wife of Carlisle and adoptive mother to Edward, Rosalie, Alice and Emmett. She has no special power, but has a strong ability to love passionately. She committed suicide because she couldn’t bear the pain of her son’s death. It was in this condition when she was transformed into a vampire by Carlisle.
Rosalie Hale
Beautiful and alluring, Rosalie Hale is one of these scary creatures of the night adopted by Carlisle and Esme. In the book, we see her as a repulsive character for always undermining Bella. But in the latter chapters, we find that the reason behind such callous behavior is her insecurity towards Bella Swan’s mortality. Wanting to be mortal herself, Rosalie tries to convince Bella to stay as she is and not transform as a vampire.
Emmett Cullen
His curls and innocent appearance reminded Rosalie of her dead son. Because of this, she decided to take Emmett back to her father to transform him into a vampire. Emmett is married to Rosalie Hale.
Alice Cullen
This petite vampire with a graceful gait has a special ability to see the outcome of a decision once it is made. She also uses this ability to help Bella to surpass the dangers that await her.
When she was still a mere mortal, she was sent into an asylum for having premonitions. She later learned that she was transformed into a vampire to protect her from another vampire that haunts her.
Jasper Hale
He was transformed into a scary creature of the night when he was 20 and soon developed the ability to manipulate the emotions of people around him. Due to his past, where he was able to feed on humans whenever he chose, Jasper lacks strong self-control to feast on human blood. In addition, his body is covered with crescent-shaped scars, after the many years of fighting and training newborn vampires.

This Twilight Saga is so lame. This is gay and only dumb-ass people would waste their precious time in these kinds of stuff. Don’t they get tired of that Edwin Cullen?
Well, that’s me before. But Now, I think, already a certified Twilighter. Lame isn’t? I really don’t know what happened. All I remember is I was left bored and nothing to do at my dormitory. And my roommate left his Twilight book on his bed. “Too gay”, I said. Then, curiosity invaded the whole room so my bored, fragile mind told me to read it. Yea. Read that Twilight Book.
“Surely it was a good way to die, in the place of someone else, someone I loved. Noble, even. That ought to count for something.”
Oh. “This is lame.”, I said, after reading the preface. Guess what? I continue reading.
Little did I know, I finished the book. Sweet.
Then, after a week, I finished the whole Saga. And Shoot. I liked it.
Well I’m not into the love story. The Lion and the Lamb thing was not for me. I was more interested about the Vampires’ individual powers, the Wolf pack’s imprinting and fast healing, Volturi’s history and oh of course, Bella’s flirting skills. It is just uniquely awesome. I hate to admit it. I disgustingly love the Twilight Saga.
So my fellow gentlemen out there, I know some of you are liking the Saga too, but too embarrassed to admit it. Well, you should start being proud about it even though other people will say you’re gay and dumb for liking it. You’re not alone. And well, let’s accept the fact that some of you really hate the love triangle story. Count me in. But If you hate the Edward, Bella and Jacob love triangle, well try to see more of the other side of the story. The vampires’ immortality, the wolf packs interesting characteristics, the history of both sides. Being a fan of this Saga doesn’t mean you are already a fan of the Edward, Bella and Jacob love story. Stand up and be proud brother!

Two recent phenomenon of our time are the best selling series of Twilight books written by Stephanie Meyer and the subsequent spin off Twilight films, which are breaking box office records around the world and friendship bracelets, jelly bracelets and charity wristbands.
Bracelets and wristbands are incredibly popular amongst with a wide spectrum of age groups but in particular with teenage boys and girls so its perhaps no surprise that the News of The World have brought these two elements together and are offering to “Twi-Hards” what they describe as the ultimate Twilight Gift – a USB Twilight Wristband that comes pre-loaded with an interactive preview of the a new book. In an extra twist you two versions of the USB wristband have been produced allowing he wearing to declare their allegiance to the Vampires or the Werewolves. A fantastic idea and an excellent example of how USB wristbands can be used creatively as part of an advertising campaign.
Of course USB wristbands are not new and have been used by schools, universities, concert organisers and blue chip companies to get their messages across and to distribute information in a user-friendly format.
USB wristbands are available in a wide range of standard colours or if you’re willing to wait an extra week then any colour is possible even “blood red” just like the Twilight versions!
They come in any memory size from 64MB all the way up to a massive 16GB and they are used just like conventional USB flash drives. Typically companies ordering them will supply data to be pre-loaded onto the wristbands and this might include things like sales brochures, articles, presentations, technical data sheets, media files etc.
If you have a product or service that is targeted towards a youth demographic then its certainly worth considering branded USB wristbands as part of any marketing or promotional campaign. This is my own personal review with the Twilight audio book. My daughter, who is twelve years old, is really a large Twilight fan and desperately wished me to learn the Twilight books.
Normally this really is not the sort of e-book I’d personally go through, but I needed to share this expertise with my daughter, and was secretly fairly curious to locate out just what was so engaging about the e-book.
The solution, I came up with, was to purchase the audio version of your e-book. This enabled me to discover out just what the guide was all about, with out having to sit down and come across the time to basically learn the e-book itself. Prior to this, I have never in fact listened to an audiobook, so I did not know what to expect.
The narrated version of Twilight comes on eleven CDs and is nearly thirteen hours in length. It’s completely unabridged: this means that each and every word that’s printed inside book is really spoken by the narrator and no words are left out.
The story is narrated by Ilyana Kadushin. Ilyana is often a professional narrator who has completed different voice-overs for both TV and radio. Even though she speaks in a clear voice and each and every word is simply understood, I thought her voice was devoid of any real passion or emotion.
It took me a few days to listen to the e book in its entirety, and I ought to admit I was surprised at just how very good the tale truly was. I can see why my daughter likes this book.
I would not say that Stephenie Meyer, the author, was a particularly good writer, but the story itself was rather entertaining and I discovered myself eager to find out just what would happen in the next chapter.
So, my verdict: well, I believe that I got the greatest of each worlds with this audiobook. I was able to listen to the tale in my own time, sometimes driving to work and some times inside the kitchen whilst making the dinner, with out having to in fact make time to sit down and study the e book. Most importantly, to me, I can now share the knowledge from the book with my daughter.
Should you would like to examine Twilight, or any other book, but for whatever reason just do not have the time or the inclination, then I’d recommend seeking out the audio version if available.

If you’re like many of us who are novel fanatics and look forward to the end of your work day where you can curl up in bed or on your couch with a good book, then why not do it with a good Stephenie Meyer’s book and a comfortable fleece or throw twilight blanket?
Rather than wasting wood to build a fire, you can save the trees and snug up to a bestseller at the same time. If you haven’t yet heard about the Twilight book series, then you’re missing a truly fascinating novel. But there is no need to threat, you can get up to date with the rest of the world and borrow the picture Twilight and then go to the theatre to catch the most recent release : New Moon.
Writer of the twilight series, Stephenie Meyer, claims that the idea for Twilight came to her in a dream. Her dreamfeatured a girl who was loved by a vampire, but also thirsted for her blood. Based primarily on this, Meyer decided to create an entire novel, more for her own enjoyment than the rest. She did not actually mean to publish it, but Twilight fans around the globe are extremely pleased that she did.
Fans braved the early morning cold and camped outside theaters, wearing all sorts of Twilight apparel, but most useful were the Twilight Blankets. There are a variety of throw blankets and fleece blankets which are 50 x 60 inches, and are all extremely soft as well as warm. They’re the perfect gift for any fan!
