Thousands of people have fallen in love with the Twilight series of books that details the adventures and love affairs of vampires in the modern world. Although you may not have read all of the books yet, you will be thrilled to learn that they are already being made into movies with big draw at the box office. Although attending these movies will force you to admit that you are in love with a series that has captured the hearts of many thirteen year old girls, the music alone might be enough to get you out of your house and into the theatre seat. If you’ve already read the books or seen the first movie in the series, you already know that Edward has a scene where he plays the piano. Twilight piano playing has made all sorts of people interested in learning how to play a musical instrument again, and this is news that will be welcomed by piano teachers everywhere.

If you took piano lessons as a child but never really enjoyed it, you should know that there are new and different ways to go about learning the piano for pleasure that never existed back them. Traditional piano lessons take place in a studio or the home of the instructor for hours at a time, but now, thanks to modern technologies like the internet and video recorders, you can learn at your own pace, and without having to pay someone to come and teach you the basics. Which kind of tools you need for learning the piano all depends on what kind of pianist you really want to become. Do you want to be the guys who can play Christmas carols at your next holiday get together, or do you want to be the girl that can wow everyone with her rendition of the latest Alicia Keys song? Depending on how advanced you want to get, you can choose simple tutorials or advanced learn at home programs.

Once you’ve decided what type of music you want to learn, you will have to become more familiar with the instrument itself. Regardless of whether you’ll be learning on an electronic keyboard that you set up in your basement, or a full sized piano that is set up right in the middle of your living room, you can still learn how different notes sound at the opposite ends of the keyboard. Learn how different the black keys sound from the white keys that surround them on either side. Explore the different sounds you get when you strike the keys quickly, or press them softly.

Once you’ve become familiar with the instrument, it’s time to choose the song that you would first like to learn. The best songs are those that are popular on the radio. Although they may sound complicated, or may not even include a piano, the melody that is sung by the artist can be easily translated into the right hand part of the piano music. You can request sheet music for just about any song.
