Deluxe. Several times I was moved, elated, bouncing and feeling so happy being right here, right now.

In the last month I read all four Twilight books and I was so blown away by how it made me feel.

I’m sitting here thinking. Where have I been?  What have I been doing?  What have I been waiting for?

When was I going to start appreciating art, beauty and artistry again?  After I achieved what?  What does achieving have to do with appreciation?

I remember being a teenager and I was moved, touched, inspired, sparked, enraged and validated by song, art, film and theater. I would get enraptured by sporting events rooting for the underdog!!

Where did that go?  I’ve been so busy creating a life that someday I can enjoy, I’ve completely ignored my natural appreciation. Why has my hunt for success, fortune and fame been so all consuming?

Today I just got present to how The Drunk Monkey has owned me for the last 20 years as I chased the elusive destination called success. Now I’m here and I can’t believe I wasted so much time on it.

I didn’t need to live in a multi-million dollar house, burn through luxury cars or have 20 pairs of pimp shoes. I could have been appreciating, digging, grooving, dancing, singing, cheering on the under dog, and moved to tears the entire time. No stuff is required to feel and experience.

As I wipe the tears from my eyes, I realize that I’m happy that I went for the elusive prize for you.

I’m grateful that my heartache can be a marker, a beacon for you. So I can share with you my journey and tell you its not worth obsessing over the destination called success. No matter how much I achieve I still haven’t proved to the elusive “them” that I’m good enough or a part of the group or worthwhile or even of value.

The rules I was taught don’t apply. The promises that I was sold on didn’t get fulfilled. So I am going out on my own and making up my own rules.

Live now!  Appreciate now!  Listen to more music, roll on the ground with your kids, forgive your parents, smell the roses, stare at sunsets.

I know it sounds like sappy self help bulls*** but no matter how much stuff you have it doesn’t change your ability to appreciate.  And achieving success will not change your experience and appreciation.

I dare you to stop and appreciate everything you come across today and see what happens.

Let me tell you something. There is an elusive “them”. To everyone in this world who has ever felt stomped on by “reality”. And there are plenty of people who feel like they got a raw deal. Let me tell you this. There are one million reasons why they do and no alternative other than success to overcome it. There are plenty of regular working people who feel like they have been stepped on too and they work a 9 to 5. Respectable ! But no its not good enough anymore because of the elusive “them” who exist no matter what you “say” will always be better or have more money I don’t care what kind of things you say because yes it matters a hell of a lot to every one cept you because you are all ready rich. Why do you think Obama won the presidency. Because people are pissed off. They want change and they don’t want to stop and see a sunset because for them its looking like a pretty crappy rest of their life. They need change they need to get the hell in college and they need to be successful because the elusive them just keeps shoving their crap down their throats. The haves the have nots. don’t think that you would want to give your 20 years up and not be what you are today. You wouldn’t be happy for one freggin second. If you think you would be able to reach this zen point in your own life without the pain and struggle you are lying. Bull SH You wouldn’t have sustained happiness without having the resources you have now. How can you be a life coach???. I am asking you a serious question. This is my honest response to the article. I don’t hate you.

Every year in entertainment, a new celebrity obsession or trend takes hold of the nation. Beginning in the early 2000s with boy bands and other pop stars, it has since evolved into quite a different trend. 2009 and 2010 have become, both in television and the movies, the years of the vampire. Flip on your high definition television or head to the silver screen and there is bound to be some vampire movie or TV show available that kids, teens and adults alike are all enchanted by.

How the vampire trend started up again is unknown. Beginning in the mid 90s, Sarah Michelle Gellar starred as Buffy in the hit WB series, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” which is now shown only in syndication. After the nail was put in that vampire TV show’s coffin, the vampire craze had seemed to be put to rest. However, it has yet again risen with a vengence as books, television, movies and even music are all focused on vampire protagonists. From the “Twilight” books and movies to HBO’s “True Blood” to basic cable’s CWTV station’s vampire TV show, gone are the days of Dracula being creepy, as they’ve almost become a celebrity sex symbol.

For those who have never seen any of the “Twilight” movies, they are now available on premium movie channels in high definition. Starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, this vampire saga is a love story between two teens, one of whom is a vampire. There are three books and movies based on the novels, the second of which is currently still in movie theaters. The third movie is still in production. The first one, however, sparked teen heartthrob frenzy throughout the nation and world as girls flocked to choose teams based on the characters. The movie has been shown on both cable and premium television channels.

Also on premium television stations available through satellite TV is the HBO hit series, “True Blood,” which also has a vampire plot. A much more adult take on vampires and blood sucking, the show is shown in its Sunday slot, replacing Sex and the City’s old space as the favorite HBO hit. Now finishing its third season, the show starring Anna Paquin is available on HBO’s On Demand special from the beginning of the series starting with Season One.

Pop culture’s obsession with vampires seems to be one that a stake won’t be put in any time soon and will stick around for some time to come. The TV shows are in constant production and the “Twilight” fanatics seem to grow with every movie Robert Pattinson stars in. The storylines are modern twists on classic vampire stories from years ago. For those interested in watching either the movies or television series, it is suggested to do so in HD because the plots often lend themselves to vibrant colors in the filming.
